The Game Changers
Executive-produced by stars of screen and sport including Jackie Chan, Novak Djokovic, Lewis Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Oscar-winner Louie Psihoyos's documentary follows former UFC fighter and US military instructor James Wilks on a personal quest to understand the benefits of plant-based eating in professional sports. During a six-month period of recovery from injury when he was unable to train, Wilks learnt of a study into Roman gladiators known as the Hordearii, who ate little or no meat. As a staunch believer in animal protein as a necessary part of building muscle and fuelling the body, Wilks is deeply sceptical. He travels to Austria to meet researchers, sparking a radical rethink of his nutrition. Psihoyos's film accompanies Wilks as he interviews some of the world's leading athletes and various experts to discuss the profound implications of moving to a plant-based diet. Screenings on September 16 include exclusive pre-show content and unseen bonus footage.
