HERO Inspired by the Extraordinary Life & Times of Mr. Ulric Cross
Writer-director Frances Anne Solomon pays tribute to most decorated West Indian serviceman in the history of the Royal Air Force in a stirring documentary-drama biopic. As a boy in early 1930s Trinidad and Tobago, Ulric Cross (Nickolai Salcedo) is emotionally scarred by the loss of his mother (Tessa Alexander) and subsequent abandonment by his father (Kearn Samuel). In 1941, he enlists in the RAF and serves Bomber Command with distinction during the Second World War, earning two coveted military awards. His long life intersects with key moments in history such as the fight for independence in Africa and the Caribbean.
