What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Deep Space Nine
The first episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, a live-action spin-off from the gung-ho adventures of the USS Enterprise, broadcast in January 1993 and accumulated an ardent fan base over seven series. Although the show stood apart from creator Gene Roddenberry's futuristic vision, Trekkies continue to view the crew of the eponymous space station with deep affection. In this revealing documentary, directors Ira Steven Behr and David Zappone interview the cast and crew about the making of DS9, intercut with excerpts from episodes in sparkling HD and animated storyboards of storylines that never made it to the screen. A one-night-only special event on June 26 includes a live broadcast of a round-table discussion about the making of the documentary and the legacy of the sci-fi series.
