Force of Nature Natalia
Born and raised in Moscow, prima ballerina Natalia Osipova began dancing at the age of five and was promoted to principal of the Bolshoi Ballet in 2010. She subsequently became a principal at Mikhailovsky Ballet and American Ballet Theatre before joining The Royal Ballet in 2013. BAFTA-winning documentary filmmaker Gerry Fox spends a year in Osipova's company, gaining a rare insight into the physical and psychological demands of dance by witnessing the prima ballerina prepare to perform both lead roles in La Bayadere on alternate nights and rehearse a contemporary piece with her partner Jason Kittelberger. This behind-the-scenes footage is punctuated by unseen clips from Osipova's personal archive.
