The World Is Yours (Le monde est à toi)
Crime pays if you are willing to risk everything for a big score - including your liberty - in director Romain Gavras's serpentine crime thriller. Francois (Karim Leklou) operates on the fringes of the Parisian criminal underworld but he is determined to stay on the right side of the law by winning a lucrative contract to distribute flavoured ice pops in North Africa. The project demands a sizable injection of cash, which Francois's controlling mother Danny (Isabelle Adjani) will gladly spend when she isn't co-ordinating an elaborate shoplifting scam with her gal pals in a swanky department store. To realise his dreams, Francois reluctantly agrees to manage a drug deal for his boss Putin (Sofian Khammes) in Spain. Putin insists on sending two heavies to make sure Francois completes the transaction without hiccups. Francois introduces two more volatile elements to the mix - ex-con Henry (Vincent Cassel) and ambitious sex bomb Lamya (Oulaya Amamra) - and the scene is set for double-crosses and disasters that could end with Francois digging his own shallow grave.
