Mektoub, My Love
Running in excess of three hours, writer-director Abdellatif Kechiche's 1990s-set drama unravels tangled relationships in a small seaside town in the south of France. Loosely based on Francois Begaudeau's novel La Blessure, La Vraie, the film unfolds through the eyes of Amin (Shain Boumedine), who returns home to Sete from his medical studies in Paris to pursue a newfound dream of screenwriting. In the blazing heat of summer, Amin diligently writes while he watches countless films on VHS to expand his knowledge of the moving image. Amin's mother (Delinda Kechiche) encourages her boy to step away from his script and have fun with his cousin Tony (Salim Kechiouche). Tony is a local womaniser and has countless notches on his bedpost, including Amin's friend Ophelie (Ophelie Bau), whose beau is currently serving in the army.
