The Accidental Prime Minister
Based on the 2014 memoir by Sanjaya Baru, The Accidental Prime Minister is a biographical drama directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte. The film charts the unexpected rise of economist and politician Manmohan Singh (Anupam Kher), who serves as Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA). The script explores the important role played by Sonia Gandhi (Suzanne Bernert), leader of the UPA, in bringing Singh to power and his interactions with political analyst and commentator Baru (Akshaye Khanna) during this decade of change.
