An Elephant Sitting Still (Da xiang xi di er zuo)
On October 12, 2017, Chinese novelist Hu Bo, who wrote under the pen name Hu Qian, took his own life. He was 29. His death followed shortly after the completion of his director debut, based on one of his own stories, which is set in the northern city of Manzhouli. Schoolboy Bu (Yuchang Peng) finally snaps after relentless bullying at the hands of Shuai and pushes his classmate down the stairs. The lad goes on the run to avoid the repercussions of his actions. Meanwhile, Shuai's older brother Cheng (Yu Zhang) bears the burden of responsibility for a friend's suicide and Bu's classmate Ling (Wang Yuwen) abandons the safety of her home to pursue a forbidden romance with a teacher.
