The House By The Sea (La villa)
Three estranged siblings prepare for the death of their ageing father in veteran writer-director Robert Guediguian's gently paced memento mori. Glamorous actress Angele (Ariane Ascaride) learns that her father Maurice (Fred Ulysse) has suffered a major stroke and is barely responsive. She abandons her glittering life on stage and screen to return to her childhood home in a Mediterranean fishing village where her brother Armand (Gerard Meylan) stayed to run the family's mildly successful restaurant. The devastating news about Maurice also brings Angele's other brother Joseph (Jean-Pierre Darroussin) back to the village accompanied by his girlfriend Berangere (Anais Demoustier). As Angele, Armand and Joseph rake over coals of their shared past and prepare for the inevitable, Berangere catches the eye of neighbour's son Yvan (Yann Tregouet) and Angele enjoys her own flirtation with a handsome fisherman (Robinson Stevenin).
