Outlaw King
Chris Pine adopts a solid Scottish burr to portray the proud 14th-century warrior, who issued a rousing battle cry during the First War of Scottish Independence, in David Mackenzie's blood-soaked historical drama. King Edward I of England (Stephen Dillane) compels his Scottish neighbours to bow down to his authority with the help of his volatile son (Bill Howle) and a vast army. Along with other Scottish noblemen, Robert The Bruce (Pine) begrudgingly pledges allegiance to Edward and soon after, he is married to Elizabeth Burgh (Florence Pugh). She stands beside her husband as he rebels against Edward and seizes the Scottish crown in a show of national defiance. Robert rallies passionate men including James Douglas (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) to face the might of the English.
