Tehran Taboo
Ali Soozandeh directs a gritty animated drama, which chronicles the unedifying lives of four people in modern-day Tehran whose fates are often out of their hands. While her drug addict husband languishes behind bars, Pari (Elmira Rafizadeh) has been forced into prostitution to care for their young son Elias (Bilal Yasar). She goes to the Islamic Revolutionary Court seeking a divorce but the judge abuses his position and promises to provide Pari and her boy with an apartment in exchange for sexual favours. Meanwhile, musician Babak (Arash Marandi) sleeps with a girl on a night out and then receives a distressing telephone call from her. Unless she can pay to have her virginity restored, they will both suffer the wrath of the thug she is due to marry.
