Kusama: Infinity

Born in 1929 in Matsumoto City, Japan, Yayoi Kusama moved to New York in the late 1950s where she developed her artistic practices, which embrace Minimalism, Pop Art and Surrealism. She explores the theme of cosmic infinity through her instantly recognisable motif: the polka dot. As she approaches her 90th birthday and prepares to create her first permanent UK installation for the new Crossrail station at Liverpool Street, Kusama allows documentary filmmaker Heather Lenz to capture her at work, tracing a personal journey from rural Japan to New York, where she faced racism and sexism, and back to present-day Tokyo where Kusama is regarded as one of the world's greatest living artists.
