Born and raised in segregated North Carolina, Andre Leon Talley was deeply inspired by the elegance of his beloved grandmother and the teachings of the church. He pursued his love of fashion with defining publications such as Women's Wear Daily and W, and became one of the most influential taste makers of a generation as editor-at-large of Vogue under the leadership of Anna Wintour. Documentary filmmaker Kate Novack draws on a treasure trove of archive footage alongside candid interviews with Talley to chart his journey from humble beginnings to the epicentre of 20th-century American culture, including contributions from Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and Wintour.
