The Intent 2: The Come Up
In 2016, Femi Oyeniran and Kalvadour Peterson co-directed the South London-set drama The Intent about a group of small time criminals known as TIC (Thieves In the Community), who turned to armed robbery when dealing drugs failed to bring in the returns they desire. The belated sequel, co-directed by Nicky Slimting Walker and Oyeniran, follows the stories of some of the same characters, who are seemingly powerless to escape the cycle of violence and retribution. Jay (Ghetts) dreams of heading up his own organised crime ring but he is bound tightly to Hackney crime boss Beverley (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) and a crew. Unperturbed, Jay secretly pushes forward with the help of Mustafa (Adam Deacon) but Beverley discovers his disloyalty, which demands swift and severe punishment. As battle lines are drawn, an undercover police officer called Gunz (Dylan Duffus), who has ingratiated himself into the crew's ranks, watches with interest as divisions appear and Jay openly questions who he can trust.
