At the age of 11, Maya Arulpragasam moved to the UK with her mother and family to escape the civil war in Sri Lanka. The young Tamil refugee settled on these shores and began exploring her creativity in her mid-twenties as an artist and filmmaker before she found her calling as a rapper and singer-songwriter under the moniker M.I.A. Documentary filmmaker Steve Loveridge is granted access to Arulpragasam's personal video recordings, which have never been seen before, to chart her personal journey from conflict to Academy Award-nominated pop star and activist.
