The Ballymurphy Precedent

On January 30, 1972, British soldiers from the 1st Battalion, Parachute Regiment shot civilians taking part in a protest against internment. The incident became known as Bloody Sunday and led to a formal apology from Prime Minister David Cameron. Five months earlier, the same parachute regiment was involved in another shooting on a Catholic estate in Belfast, which resulted in the deaths of 11 people. The true story of this massacre has not been widely reported. Filmmaker Callum Macrae combines documentary storytelling and investigative journalism to follow relatives of the victims as they campaign for justice and throw a spotlight on one of the most significant events in the Troubles.
