Dr Strangelove: Or, How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb
A sparkling 4K restoration of Stanley Kubrick's BAFTA-winning 1964 Cold War paranoia satire about war-mongering men in power plotting a nuclear apocalypse. US Air Force Commander Jack D Ripper (Sterling Hayden) loses his flimsy grasp on reality and orders an attack on the Soviet Union's strategic targets, which can be stopped with a three-letter code known only to him. Joint Chief of Staff "Buck" Turgidson (George C Scott) briefs the US President and his advisers on the unsanctioned military action. They subsequently learn from Soviet ambassador Alexei de Sadeski (Peter Bull) that the USSR has developed a doomsday machine, which will activate should nuclear bombs fall on the country. The device will effectively bring about the end of humanity as we know it. Group Captain Lionel Mandrake (Peter Sellers) from the RAF is powerless to stop the attack on the Soviet Union so madcap scientist Dr Strangelove (Sellers again) suggests a radical course of action.
