Vagabond (Sans toit ni loi)
A rerelease of Agnes Varda's critically acclaimed 1985 drama headlining Sandrine Bonnaire as the titular young drifter. The film opens with the lifeless body of Mona Bergeron (Bonnaire) resting on frozen ground, finally at peace. In a series of overlapping flashbacks, we meet the last people to encounter Mona on her travels after she abandons her middle-class parents and secretarial training to wander around the countryside with just a knapsack full of belongings and her wits. En route, Mona meets various people who exploit or help her including a goatherd and his wife, who offer her shelter from the elements in a trailer. Regardless, Mona seems destined to walk passively to her tragic fate.
