The Endless
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead co-direct, co-write and star in a perplexing science fiction thriller, which challenges and bends the laws of physics to plunge characters and us into a nightmarish netherworld of overlapping time frames. Justin Smith (Benson) and his younger brother Aaron (Moorhead) escape the clutches of a cult. Years pass and the siblings recalibrate their minds but Aaron is haunted by his experiences in the desert. Out of the blue, the brothers receive a mysterious VHS recording from cult member Anna (Callie Hernandez) and they are persuaded to return to the cult for one day to seek emotional closure. Back in the fold, which is loosely managed by Hal (Tate Ellington), Justin and Aaron witness phenomena they cannot rationally explain. The younger sibling slowly falls back into the cult's warm embrace and Aaron resolves to orchestrate another escape. Alas, his carefully laid plans are undermined by shocking revelations about a voracious beast that supposedly lurks just outside of the camp and controls the cult members' fates.
