The Bromley Boys
Adapted from the comic novel by Dave Roberts, The Bromley Boys is a humorous coming of age story set during a tumultuous football season in 1970. Dave Roberts (Brennoch O'Connor) has supported Bromley FC for as long as he can remember but the team is in the doldrums, anchored to the bottom of a non-league division. Deluded by his overactive imagination, Dave hatches a cunning scheme to turn the club's fortunes around and entice scouts to visit the Hayes Lane ground to cast their eye over Bromley's star striker Alan Stonebridge (Ross Anderson). Dave's parents Donald (Alan Davies) and Gertie (Martine McCutcheon) are dubious of their son's chances, as is club chairman Charlie McQueen (Jamie Foreman). However, McQueen's child genius daughter Ruby (Savannah Baker) takes a shine to Dave and watches with interest as the object of her affection tests his football fandom to the limit.
