The Little Mermaid
Disney's 28th feature based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy-tale marked a change of fortunes for the House of the Mouse, with more fluid animation, catchy tunes and a sense of fun and adventure. Surprisingly, it hasn't dated at all. The story centres on a mermaid called Ariel who falls in love with a Prince and has to choose between her heart and her watery home. Great vocal performances (the supporting cast are a hoot) make this a treat for beginning to end.
