Edie
Filmed on location in the breathtaking wilderness of the Scottish Highlands, director Simon Hunter's journey of discovery follows a plucky octogenarian as she realises a lifelong dream that she thought had been squandered many decades earlier. Edie (Sheila Hancock) has spent the best part of 40 years tending to her domineering husband George (Donald Pelmear), who was rendered immobile by a stroke. As his primary carer, Edie devotes most waking hours to her spouse so when he eventually passes away, Edie hopes she can seize the moment and put herself first for a change. Unfortunately, her daughter Nancy (Wendy Morgan) decides that the safest place for Edie would be a care home so the plucky mother hen packs her old camping bag and heads for the beautiful village of Lochinver to realise a lifelong goal: to climb Mount Suilven in Scotland. A local guide called Johnny (Kevin Guthrie) ignores the warnings of his flatmate McLaughlin (Paul Brannigan) and girlfriend Fiona (Amy Manson) to accompany Edie on this gruelling odyssey. An unlikely friendship blossoms as two strangers, many years apart, face the wrath of Mother Nature and their own fears.
