I Kill Giants
Based on the graphic novel by Ken Niimura and Joe Kelly, who penned the screenplay, I Kill Giants is a touching coming-of-age story about a schoolgirl, who retreats into a fantasy world to escape the pain of her reality. Barbara Thorson (Madison Wolfe) is a loner, who is obsessed with the otherworldly creatures of Dungeons & Dragons. She takes on the role of giant slayer for her neighbourhood on Long Island, even though the other residents can't see these hulking predators. Barbara's erratic behaviour puts her at odds with her older sister and guardian, Karen (Imogen Poots), and her younger brother. The new girl at school, Sophia (Sydney Wade), is drawn to Barbara and this burgeoning friendship forces the misfit to confront her demons with the help of concerned school psychologist Mrs Molle (Zoe Saldana).
