Antonio Lopez 1970: Sex Fashion & Disco
Born in Puerto Rico but raised in New York, Antonio Lopez became one of the most influential fashion illustrators in the late 1960s and 1970s, as part of a creative community including photographer Bill Cunningham, his partner Juan Ramos and makeup artist Corey Tippin. Lopez's muses during this fertile period included Pat Cleveland, Jerry Hall, Grace Jones and Jessica Lange. Subsequently, he became close friends with Karl Lagerfeld and worked closely with the designer in Paris, while Lagerfeld nurtured his deep-seated rivalry with Yves Saint Laurent. James Crump's documentary explores this vibrant period in fashion history through the eyes of Lopez, incorporating interviews with friends and contemporaries as well as footage from the era.
