Here to Be Heard: The Story of the Slits
Formed in London in 1976, all-girl band The Slits pioneered the "punky reggae" musical movement and blazed a counterculture trail alongside The Clash and The Sex Pistols. Lead vocalist Ari Up died in October 2010 while she was making a behind-the-scenes documentary about the band with tour manager Jennifer Shaqawat. Writer-director William E Badgley takes this material alongside previously unseen footage, photographs and archive material to chart the personal histories of band members and their enduring legacy, featuring contributions from all surviving members of The Slits.
