An American in Paris: The Musical
Christopher Wheeldon's Olivier and Tony Award-winning reimagining of the Oscar-winning film, performed by a company of more than 50 actors, dancers and musicians, dazzled audiences at the Dominion Theatre in London for over a year. Cameras were present for one live performance to capture Wheeldon's swooning choreography and Bob Crowley's lustrous set and costume design in all their glory. Robert Fairchild dances the role of the hunky American GI, who falls head over heels in love with a beautiful young dancer played by Leanne Cope against the backdrop of the twinkling lights of the French capital. Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Craig Lucas, the visually sumptuous production features George and Ira Gershwin's timeless songs I Got Rhythm, 'S Wonderful and They Can't Take That Away From Me.
