Padmaavat
Sanjay Leela Bhansali directs the first Indian film granted a global IMAX 3D release, which will screen in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions. Based on 16th-century Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi's epic verse Padmavat, the story unfolds in medieval Rajasthan where queen Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone) is happily married to noble king Maharawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor). They live in prosperity within a heavily protected fortress. Ambitious sultan Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh), who rules over a neighbouring empire, learns about Padmavati's legendary beauty and he becomes obsessed with possessing her, even though he has a wife, Mehrunisa (Aditi Rao Hydari). Alauddin instigates an invasion of Maharawal's realm, laying siege to the fortress until the king agrees to give up his greatest treasure. Although they are outnumbered, subjects loyal to Padmavati make the ultimate sacrifice in her name, determined to prevent their radiant queen from falling into enemy hands.
