The Final Year
Shot over the course of 90 unexpectedly tumultuous days, Greg Barker's revealing documentary travels with President Barack Obama and members of his foreign policy team as they complete their final diplomatic missions ahead of the election of a new resident of the White House. Granted unprecedented access to officials, the film cuts back and forth between Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry, Samantha Power (US Ambassador to the UN) and Ben Rhodes (Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications) as they address hot-button topics of climate change, conflict, terrorism and immigration. Successes include Obama's historic speech at Hiroshima, where he becomes the first serving US president to visit the site since the nuclear attack during the Second World War. Any perceived positive change affected by the Obama administration is tempered with disbelief and mounting fear as Donald Trump's campaign gathers momentum and America goes to the polls.
