Born in 1934 in London, Dame Jane Goodall DBE began studying primate behaviour in 1960 and for over 50 years, she has dedicated herself to understanding the interactions between wild chimpanzees as well as wider conservation issues. Award-winning documentary filmmaker Brett Morgen is granted access to more than 100 hours of previously unseen footage in the National Geographic archives to piece together an intimate and revealing portrait of a woman, who has radically altered our appreciation of the natural world. Accompanied by an orchestral score composed by Philip Glass, the film champions Goodall as a trailblazer in a male-dominated scientific community, who repeatedly challenged the academic status quo.
