A Brooklyn teenager wrestles with family responsibilities and desires of his heart in a gritty coming-of-age drama written and directed by Eliza Hittman. Nineteen-year-old Frankie (Harris Dickinson) has been forced into the role of man of the house by the rapidly declining health of his father (Neal Huff), who lays dying in a bed in the front room of the family home. Frankie tries to be strong for his mother Donna (Kate Hodge) and sister Carla (Nicole Flyus) but really, he just wants to get high and fool around with his buddies Alexei (David Ivanov), Jesse (Anton Selyaninov) and Nick (Frank Hakaj) at the Coney Island amusement park. They coax Frankie into dating sassy local girl Simone (Madeline Weinstein) but the 19-year-old would prefer to seek comfort in the arms of anonymous men he secretly meets in internet chat rooms. As Frankie's battle to accept his sexuality comes to a head, he pushes away some of the people closest to him.
