Shubh Mangal Saavdhan
Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar headline this Hindi romantic comedy, directed by RS Prasanna from a script by Hitesh Kawalya. Mudit (Khurrana) is head over heels in love with his spirited sweetheart Sugandha (Pednekar) and she eventually accepts his awkward marriage proposal, which fires the starter pistol on a period of negotiations between the engagement and a North Indian shaadi. The middle-class couple shoulder the weight of expectation of their respective families, who insist on meddling in every detail of the happy day. While Sugandha must accept that she might not get the fairytale wedding she has always dreamed of, Mudit worries that he is ill-prepared for the responsibilities that come with being a husband and provider. He must find courage and his voice in order to hang onto the woman he loves and prove that his love for Sugandha can overcome outrageous misfortune and the egos of interfering loved ones.
