Young Frankenstein

A rerelease of Mel Brooks' celebrated 1974 comedy horror, co-written by lead actor Gene Wilder, which pays affectionate homage to Mary Shelley's novel and the 1931 film directed by James Whale. Dr Frederick Frankenstein (Wilder) learns he has inherited a vast estate in Transylvania from his great-grandfather, Baron Beaufort von Frankenstein. Travelling to the property, Frederick meets fearsome housekeeper Frau Blucher (Cloris Leachman), pretty personal assistant Inga (Teri Garr) and a hunchback servant called Igor (Marty Feldman). In mysterious new surroundings, Frederick becomes obsessed with his great-grandfather's experiments to reanimate the dead and he vows to continue the ground-breaking research. Consequently, Frederick gives birth to a hideous creature (Peter Boyle), who poses a threat to the local village. On September 27, the film screens with a special introduction from Brooks.
