Re-release of Luis Bunuel's 1967 classic starring Catherine Deneuve as 23-year-old Severine, wife of handsome young surgeon Pierre (Jean Sorel), who seems the very model of propriety. Bored by her routine life, Severine retreats into her imagination, where she entertains thoughts of secret sexual fantasies. When an acquaintance introduces Severine to brothel madame Anais (Genevieve Page), the young housewife discovers a world of rich sensual pleasures, where she can satiate her own desires whilst pandering to the whims of her clients, including fearsome gangster Marcel (Pierre Clementi).
