A group of teenagers from Baltimore put their best feet forward to overcome financial hardship and adversity in Amanda Lipitz's feel good documentary. Students at the Baltimore Leadership School For Young Women are preparing to graduate and many of these teenagers are hoping to be the first in their families to go to college. The film concentrates on three senior girls on the high school's Step Team, who have to juggle choreography and performances with their schoolwork. They include team founder Blessin, who lost her place last year because of poor grades; valedictorian Cori, whose impressive grade average could secure her a full scholarship to Johns Hopkins; and effervescent Tayla, who knows the steps better than anyone and is supported throughout by her corrections officer mother.
