Edith Walks

One of Britain's most distinctive and quixotic filmmakers, Andrew Kotting, ruminates on the relationship between King Harold II and his wife Edith Swan-Neck, also known as Edith The Fair, who is depicted cradling him in a striking sculpture at Grosvenor Gardens on the sea front in St Leonards-on-Sea in East Sussex. Kotting embarks on a walk from Waltham Abbey in Essex via Battle Abbey to St Leonards-on-Sea, tracing the route that King Harold's body took for burial near the High Altar following the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Travelling 108 miles as the crow flies, Kotting captures chance encounters, conversations and performances en route using various cameras and a specially constructed music box with a boom microphone.
