Two lost souls finding courage and meaning in each other's company against the backdrop of Blackpool's twinkling lights in David Blair's heartfelt drama, based on a script by Roger Hadfield. Self-destructive widower Joseph (Timothy Spall) can no longer salve his pain by turning to the bottle so he resolves to end his miserable existence in the seaside town where he and his late wife spent some of their happiest moments. At his lowest ebb, Joseph meets Ria (Juno Temple), who is trying to escape the clutches of her abusive boyfriend and pimp, Dex (Matt Ryan). A bond of trust develops between these two strangers that sows the seeds of hope, but ghosts of the past continue to haunt them. Joseph and Ria will have to make heartbreaking sacrifices to emerge from the melee.
