A Moving Image
Drama and documentary walk hand-in-hand in South London-based writer-director Shola Amoo's feature, which explores the gentrification of Brixton, which has impacted the area's large African-Caribbean community. Multimedia artist Nina (Tanya Fear) has been living in East London for several years but she returns home to Brixton to discover that the neighbourhood of her youth has changed almost beyond recognition. Property prices have sky rocketed as a result of wealthy white residents moving into the area. In order to document this cultural shift, Nina embarks on an ambitious art project to shine a light on the gentrification and its ramifications. In the process, she faces her own trial when she becomes involved with two desirable men: black performance artist Ayo (Aki Omoshaybi) and white actor Mickey (Alex Austin), who has recently moved to the area.
