Bunch of Kunst
Named after a town in Lincolnshire, post-punk duo Sleaford Mods came to the fore in 2007 with their potty-mouthed rants about working class life, unemployment, celebrity culture and austerity. Under the auspices of manager Steve Underwood, former chicken factory worker Jason Williamson and beatmaker Andrew Fearn nurtured a cult following with their bitingly honest lyrics and an endearing DIY approach to their craft. Fans include Iggy Pop, who once anointed them "the world's greatest rock'n'roll band". Christine Franz's official documentary follows the band over the course of two years as their bedroom recording sessions leads to mainstream success and a chance to defy the rigid rules of a cutthroat music business that repeatedly puts profits ahead of experimentation and daring.
