Naomi Watts headlines this psychological thriller directed by Farren Blackburn, which imagines a life or death battle for survival during a snow storm. Psychologist Mary Portman (Watts) has escaped nightmarish memories of the past, and the accident which claimed the life of her husband, by relocating to a cabin in the woods with her paralysed son, Steven (Charlie Heaton). She continues to see patients in an outbuilding, which she has transformed into a cosy office, while caring for Steven and making regular video calls to her colleague Dr Wilson (Oliver Platt). A local man, Doug Hart (David Cubitt), whose son is one of Mary's patients, tries in vain to secure a date with her, but she is resistant to opening her broken heart to another man. A session with a troubled child, Tom Patterson (Jacob Tremblay), goes badly and the boy vanishes. Soon after, Mary gets the nagging feeling that someone is in her home, watching her every move. Trapped inside with Steven, Mary begins to question her sanity as she searches for an intruder, who might be a figment of her paranoia.
