Nitesh Tiwari directs and co-writes this Bollywood biopic about a father who realised his sporting dreams through his children. Mahavir Singh (Aamir Khan) is a professional wrestler who yearns to win a gold medal for his beloved India. Unfortunately, financial pressures force him to give up on his pursuit of the top step of the winner's podium. He resolves instead to train a son for the wrestling ring and raises a family with his wife, Daya (Sakshi Tanwar). She gives birth to four girls and Mahavir is crestfallen, believing that fate has dealt him and his sporting aspirations cruel blow. One day, 14-year-old Geeta (Zaira Wasim) and 12-year-old Babita (Suhani Bhatnagar) return home, having given a severe beating to a group of boys from the neighbourhood, who were teasing the sisters. Mahavir suddenly acknowledges that his daughters might have what it takes to be wrestlers and over the course of 10 years, he trains Geeta (now played by Fatima Sana Shaikh) and Babita (now played by Sanya Malhotra) to fight against boys in local wrestling tournaments, chasing the elusive prize of a gold medal for India at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
