Director Sujoy Ghosh reunites with Bollywood star Vidya Balan for this gripping sequel to his 2012 thriller about a pregnant wife searching for her missing husband. In Kahaani 2, doting mother Durga Rani Singh (Vidya Balan) receives a telephone call from a kidnapper, who claims to have her daughter Mimmi (Naisha Khanna). If Durga wants to see her flesh and blood again, she must go to a specific address without involving the police. En route to the location, Durga is hit by a car and she slips into a coma. In hospital, Sub-inspector Inderjeet Singh (Arjun Rampal) takes charge of the case to identify the motionless woman and he discovers that Durga Rani Singh is wanted for kidnap and murder. His case of hit-and-run spirals out of control as the truth about Durga's shocking past is revealed.
