Sweet Bean
Sentaro (Masatoshi Nagase) owns a shop where he studiously makes dorayaki, pancakes sandwiched together with sweet red bean paste that are moreish snacks for the dwindling clientele. He advertises for help in the shop and an elderly customer called Tokue (Kirin Kiki) applies. She offers harsh criticism of Sentaro's red bean filling and claims that her homemade paste is better. Initially, Sentaro dismisses Tokue but when she delivers a jar of her delicious red bean paste, he gladly hires her to take his dorayaki to the next level. The combination of Sentaro's meticulously crafted dough and Tokue's sumptuous filling has customers queueing around the block, revitalising the business just when it seemed all hope was lost.
