In 2011, American politician Anthony Weiner resigned from Congress after he became embroiled in a sexting scandal. Two years later, documentary filmmakers Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg are granted unprecedented access to Weiner as he attempts to put the furore behind him by hitting the election trail in a bid to win the Democratic nomination to run for New York City mayor. He asks the public to give him a second chance only for history to repeat itself when new sexting allegations emerge and throw his campaign into disarray. The film witnesses the rise and fall of an American politician in excruciating close up.
