A documentary portrait of the enigmatic New Orleans pianist, James Booker, whose musical style embraced classical, blues, jazz and ragtime. He began his training at the age of 12 and released his first recording three years later. Booker famously mentored Dr John and Harry Connick Jr and various stories continue to circulate about how he lost his eye. Lily Keber's film incorporates archive footage, performances and interviews with the people who knew Booker best, shedding light on a prodigy who wrestled with drug and alcohol abuse and died too soon at the age of 43 in 1983.
