Versus: The Life and Films of Ken Loach
In 2016, British director Ken Loach will celebrate three milestones: his 80th birthday, the release of his 50th major work I, Daniel Blake, which garnered him a second Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and the 50th anniversary of his seminal work, Cathy Come Home. Documentary filmmaker Louise Osmond is granted unprecedented access to Loach on the set of I, Daniel Blake and speaks to the director about his career, from his early years in the theatre before he segued into television and then film. The portrait includes contributions from collaborators, friends and colleagues in the industry including Barry Ackroyd, Melvyn Bragg, Gabriel Byrne, Nell Dunn, Sheila Hancock, Paul Laverty, Chris Menges, Cillian Murphy, Alan Parker, Crissy Rock and Ricky Tomlinson.
