Oddball and the Penguins

Animals and children are in abundance in Stuart McDonald's feel-good Australian family drama, which is based on a true story. Eccentric chicken farmer Allan "Swampy" Marsh (Shane Jacobson) lives in Warrnambool in Victoria with a fluffy, white Maremma sheepdog named Oddball. The lovable pooch has a mischievous streak and has been banned from town after a series of disasters. Swampy's daughter Emily (Sarah Snook) is the local wildlife ranger, who is desperate to preserve a colony of penguins that has roosted on nearby Middle Island. Unfortunately, foxes are decimating the population of birds and threatening the island's status as a recognised sanctuary. Oddball is an unlikely protector of the birds and Swampy joins forces with his cuddly canine and granddaughter Olivia (Coco Jack Gillies) to scare away the foxes. However, Emily's partner Bradley (Alan Tudyk) would dearly like the plan to fail because if the island loses its status as a sanctuary, he can establish a whale watching business in its place.
