The Apartment
Another re-release of Billy Wilder's bittersweet comedy. Bud Baxter (Jack Lemmon) works at a New York insurance firm where he is just one face among thousands. In order to endear himself to the bosses and possibly secure promotion when the chance arises, Bud allows his superiors to use his apartment for meetings with their mistresses. It seems a small price to pay for career advancement. Problems arise, however, when Bud realises that his boss Mr Sheldrake (Fred MacMurray) has taken the object of his affections - elevator operator Fran (Shirley MacLaine) - as a lover.
