In the quiet mining village of Edlington outside Doncaster, rumours circulate about a giant carp called Nessie that lives in the decoy ponds. Teenager Trevor sits patiently at the water's edge, waiting for the fish to surface. Meanwhile, young lovers Maurice and Cassie steal kisses in the reeds.
