Kirkwall Airport
Apart from scheduled services to the Scottish mainland and to Shetland, Kirkwall Airport is the base for the original inter-island services introduced and continuously operated by Loganair. The airport also support daily Royal Mail and newspaper flights. Other airport users include the Fisheries Protection aircraft, various charters and the Northern Lighthouse Board helicopter. 111,000 passengers a year use the airport to fly to 7 different destinations.

A free of charge car park and spaces for disabled parking are available. There is a dropped kerb area in front of the terminal building for embarking/disembarking disabled passengers.
Baby change facilities
Wheelchairs are available in the foyer of the terminal building and an Ambulift is also available for use by the airlines for access to/from aircraft by passengers. The terminal building's internal signage is compliant for those with impaired visibility, including hi-visibility flight information screens.

Passengers driving from the west of the island should use the A965 or the A964, while those travelling from the east of the island should use the A960 or A961.

There are ferry services run by Scotrail to and from Aberdeen and the Shetlands.
