Kensington Palace + State Apartments
Kensington Palace dates back to 1689, and has seen such momentous events as the death of George II and the birth of Queen Victoria. Today it provides an oasis of tranquility from the hustle and bustle of London. Multi language sound guides lead visitors round the magnificent State Apartments, including the lavishly decorated Cupola Room, where Queen Victoria was baptised, and the beautifully restored King's Gallery. The Royal Court and Ceremonial Dress collection dates from the 18th century, and audio tours allow visitors to participate in the excitement of dressing for court, from invitation to presentation. There are also selections of dresses owned and worn by HM Queen Elizabeth II, and Diana, Princess of Wales, with other exhibitions throughout the year.
